Bruce Bowers
B.S. University of Maryland School of Architecture
Bruce has been in the construction industry for most of his lifetime. His grandfather and father were construction experts and he started his first construction company at age 18. After graduating from the University of Maryland’s School of Architecture, Bruce was a Project Manager for some of the largest developments in Northern Virginia. In 1990, Bruce started Bowers Design Build with the intention to deliver the best overall experience in architecture and construction. In short order, he started winning local and national acclaim for transforming the homes in the Northern Virginia area and for exceptional customer service. He sincerely enjoys designing unique, yet practical spaces for all his clients and is passionate about the client experience through design and construction. When Bruce is not busy with his clients, he enjoys running, kayaking, paddle boarding and generally doing anything outside!
John Coburn, Jr.
B.S. Embry Riddle University, MBA Florida Institute of Technology
John has been a leader in the remodeling industry for more than two decades. His management experience with several large corporations is a tremendous asset to Bowers’ clients. He is the Past President and Chairman of the Board of the Professional Remodeling Organization (PRO) Mid-Atlantic Chapter, a professional industry association. He also served on the National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s National Strategic Planning Committee and has been the recipient of two NARI Image Awards and the President’s Award for Outstanding Service to the association. In 2006, John was inducted to the NARI Hall of Fame. John currently volunteers on several remodeling organization committees focused on workforce development and integrity and ethics in the remodeling industry. John is an avid golfer; loves coaching youth sports and enjoys traveling with his family.
Wilma Bowers
B.S. James Madison University
After a 19-year career as head of Corporate Advertising and Brand Management with Verizon, Wilma joined Bowers in 2001 to help manage the family’s growing business. Wilma makes sure that Bowers’ business processes accentuate the company’s ability to offer the best design and construction services possible. In addition to her passion to make sure Bowers’ clients are completely happy with their renovation experience, Wilma has dedicated her philanthropic energy over the past 20 years toward student health and wellness. She served as a Fairfax County School Board appointee to the Curriculum Advisory Council and was a PTA board member for 14 years. Wilma is the Chairman Ermeritus of Women for Madison; an organization dedicated to creating scholarship opportunities for James Madison University students and a founding member of their Amethyst Circle.
Katie Peters
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design, Virginia Commonwealth University
Katie leads our design studio and works with all of our talented architects and designers to ensure client needs are met. Katie is an industry leader and has significant experience managing large complicated projects seamlessly. She is passionate about design and uses her vast experience to help the design team successfully execute projects with a creative and pragmatic approach. Katie has managed a varied portfolio of work spanning from tailored historic residences to modern chic. She excels at leading the design team... developing projects from schematic ideation through construction administration... always with an eye for details and thoughtfully considering how the spaces will be utilized for the best execution. Katie enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and gardening.
Bob Braddock
Bachelor of Architecture, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Bob has been a leader in the residential architecture profession for more than 20 years. Before merging with the Bowers team, Bob was the Principal of Red House Architects, an award-winning firm in Arlington, Virginia. A Northern Virginia native, Bob has proven success in creating attractive designs that balance functional needs and investment. When Bob isn’t creating one of a kind designs for our clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing in a local rock band.
Jerry Harman
University of Maryland
Jerry is a true design and construction professional. With over 40 years of experience, Jerry brings tremendous knowledge to each client and project. His goal is to make sure every client has a great design/build experience. In his spare time, Jerry supports Boy Scouts of America and Habitat for Humanity.
Mike Frew
Northern Virginia Community College
Mike has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry including more than five years as a County Building Inspector. His vast experience in all construction trades gives him the ideal background to ensure all Bowers’ project costs are estimated with high proficiency. Mike is a long time McLean, Virginia resident and has been honored for his volunteerism. Mike is currently a volunteer coach for GMU’s Mason Life Special Olympics program and runs a 501c3 called YOUniquely Fit, an organization dedicated to helping young adults with special needs.
Rachel Mignogna
Bachelor of Science, Longwood University
Rachel is an award-winning Project Designer with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Her expertise in design and construction makes her the perfect resource to help our clients with product procurement during the design process and post-construction care long after the project is completed. Her attention to detail and extreme customer care are a comfort to all our customers, ensuring that they can enjoy their new home worry-free. Rachel is an Alexandria native and enjoys spending family time with her husband and two active young boys.
