This home was a typical post WWII brick rambler in Arlington. The small home had a small master bedroom and home office on the first floor. The original dining room had been converted to a bedroom for the family’s child. There was not much room left for living space. The scope of this project included:
Adding a second floor addition over the existing structure:
- Master Bedroom
- Master Bathroom
- Master Closets/Dressing Area
- Laundry Room
- Hall Bathroom
- Child’s Bedroom with Closet
- Mechanical Closet
- Hall and stair to first floor
- Renovate Main Level
- Install stair with open rail
- Convert the Son’s Bedroom back to the original Dining Room
- Construct front Entry Porch
The added upper level really allows the homeowner more living space on the main level and improves circulation tremendously. Vinyl windows and siding on the outside of the home is both practical and affordable.
Overall, the new upper level addition allows for ample space for the master suite and the child’s room/bathroom.
The project met all the client’s needs. The project looks great, fits in the neighborhood and stayed within the budget.
