The former bathroom was very dark and original builder grade 1980s finishes; dark green and gold. The client wanted a totally renewed bathroom with a view to the back yard and a spa like feel. She wanted a large walk in shower, large soaking tub with space for plantings around it, large his and her vanity spaces with cabinet organizers to hide all their personal things AND really bright cabinetry and fun finishes throughout. We gave the client everything she wanted in this new, exuberant master bathroom.
We were able to make this bathroom a little larger by cutting into the unused garage ceiling space. That allowed us to move the closet into that space and capture the old closet space to make the bathroom larger. Larger his and her vanity spaces have lots of storage and counter space; including places to hide personal items. The no threshold shower is safer to get in and out of. Two shower heads means no waiting for the shower. River rock path provides added traction for wet feet. Lastly, we relocated the entrance to the bath from the bedroom for more sound-proofing when one spouse gets up and needs to get ready earlier than the other.
Special features:
- Stonewood granite counter tops.
- Custom cabinetry with lots of storage was designed and built for the client’s unique needs and style.
- River stones mixed with teal glass pebbles create a unique path to the shower.
- Custom copper light fixtures are functional but also accent this fun space.
- We created a planter around two sides of the tub for future live plants, which will soften the vertical lines of the bathroom.
- Installed under tile floor heating system including the shower floor and bench seating.
- Designed the bathroom and shower floors together so there is one continuous path; no raised curb.
