2013 Washington Metro DC Chapter Contractor of the Year (CotY) Award from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for Best Kitchen
This home was a typical large Colonial in the McLean. While the homes are large, the kitchen was relatively small and too dark for this family of five. So, the scope of work was to enlarge and update the kitchen and in doing so, create the ability to have more views into the wooded back yard and more storage space.
The client wanted:
- A larger kitchen and eating area. We expanded the footprint of the kitchen and opened the walls between the kitchen and the family room to make more space for a larger casual dining table.
- A larger island for sitting and food preparation. We designed and installed an island large enough to seat five comfortably while still leaving plenty of prep space.
- A more light-filled kitchen space. We redesigned the kitchen space entirely. We took away a small, north facing window because the view was the side of their neighbor’s home. We created a large three-section, east facing, window to capture the views of the back yard with conservation area beyond.
- A larger pantry. So, in the kitchen redesign, we carved out a space large enough for a walk-in pantry.
The project looks great, has increased functionality and helped the client achieve all their objectives for this new space.
